WEAVING WITH VOICES

Tkali z vokali (Weaving with Vocals) is a performance developed as a workshop dedicated to exploring the voice as a space of expression and creativity. It focuses on group vocal improvisation, vocal resonance, the basic principles of throat singing, and the development of authentic vocal compositions incorporating elements of folk song. It is intended for musicians as well as anyone interested in the voice as a means of communication, group connection, and personal expression.
The workshop’s artistic director, Zvezdana Novaković ZveN, together with movement mentor Sara Janaškovič, developed principles that form both the concept and structure of the work, while also allowing freedom for spontaneous impulse and creation in the moment. For this reason, the form is never the same, yet it provides a safe framework for performers to enter new and unknown spaces.
At the end of the process, we collectively shape vocal compositions that emerge from exploration throughout the workshop. These compositions remain open structures, intended for group improvisation, listening, and co-creation in the present moment.
