GRLENICE: Singing in a Choir
The mixed choir Grlenice consists of individuals from all walks of life who share a love for traditional folk singing in an authentic, open-throat manner. The repertoire includes sacred, ritual, and folk songs from various cultures. The songs come from a rich collection of different nations, with a predominance of Slavic and Balkan cultural heritage. Authentic songs resonate in simple two-part, single-part, and modern multi-part choral arrangements of folk songs. Singers focus on the sound and beauty of resonant tones through open-throat singing and various vocal techniques, often accompanied by dance.
Anyone who feels a love for folk music or wants to explore it is welcome to join. The entry requirement is an audition to check basic musical hearing. Rehearsals take place every Monday from 18:00 to 20:00 in Ljubljana. We start in November 2024 and conclude in late spring 2025 with a final concert.
Auditions will be held in the last week of October 2024.
